Working as a design consultant from very early stage of the company , I helped establishing Cultura Café's brand identity by designing logo, packaging, marketing materials, retail display and website.
DEFINING THE VISUAL IDENTITY
I designed a visual identity with hand-drawn typefaces and other visual elements to convey rustic, artisan feel that people get from their coffee products.
Throughout the website, I wanted to emphasize Cultura Café's obsession on sourcing top quality coffee from micro-lots in Nicaragua. I highlighted town and farmers who are behind of all the quality products, with natural earthy colour palettes andCultura Café's stunning photographs taken from Nicaragua.
Cultura Café offers three flavours for their coffee. My design direction was to re-design labels that capture unique characteristics of each flavour while maintaining close resemblance between each flavour. After the redesign, Cultura Café saw large increase on sales as well as getting distributor deals from several cafes around Ontario.
In 2014, Cultura Café launched a limited-edition product called Las Golondrinas which has won twice in the Cup of Excellence at the international level. With given prestige, the design brief was to design a label that speaks to modern upscale market. I created a visual identity for this sub-brand, inspired by the word "Las Golondrinas" (meaning "The Swallow" in Spanish) then designed a label for the packaging, using some of similar elements from Cultura coffee products and visualizing unique aspects of this coffee.
